Alvin Wayne Cook

Alvin Wayne Cook, 82, born and raised in Tellico Plains and a resident of Cleveland, TN for 56 years went to his Heavenly Home Thursday, April 5, 2018.

He was a member of Brown Hill Church and Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for many years. A member of Brown Hill Masonic Lodge 613 for 50 years and an Alhambra Shriner of Chattanooga.

Wayne graduated from Tellico Plains High School in 1955 where he played football for the Tellico Bears. After he retired from Colonial Bread Company, Wayne fulfilled his dream, with his wife, Sylvia working by his side, he became a Christmas tree farmer.

He enjoyed working and always wanted to help others and be an encouragement to those around him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rile and Edna Cook, 6 sisters; 3 brothers; and granddaughter, Marian Curtner.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Sylvia Faith Cook of Cleveland; daughters and spouses, Sharon and Thomas Curtner of Townsend; Elaine and Michael Policastro of Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Rose Cook of Cape Canaveral, FL; David and Teresa Cook of Tellico Plains; 2 brothers, Aaron Cook of Chino Hills, CA and Jimmy Cook of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Chris, Nolan, Michelle, Kyle, Nicole, Javier and Susanna; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Brown Hill Church. A Masonic Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. The Funeral Service to follow with Rev. B.J. Wall officiating. Committal service immediately following at Brown Hill Cemetery. Grandsons to serve at pallbearers.
