Barbara Faye Sliger, 74, a native of Athens and a resident of Tellico Plains, received her heavenly promotion by faith in Jesus Christ on Monday, January 25, 2021.
Anyone having met Barbara would realize her ability to bring sunshine to your soul. Her ability to encourage others was her gift and calling.
Barbara was a dedicated member of New Providence Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Golda Toomey and sister Nancy Fillers.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Dan Sliger of Tellico Plains; her son and daughter-in-law, Van and Robin Sliger of Athens; grandchildren and spouses, Ridge and Chloe Sliger of Athens, GA, Lake and Hanna Holden of Phoenix, OR, and Meadow Sliger of Athens; three special nephews Jeff Fillers, Scott Fillers, and Chris Fillers all of Chattanooga; brothers-in- law and spouses, Edwin and Peggy Sliger of Athens, and Jerry and Derae Sliger of Riceville; sister-in-law and spouse, Sheila and Butch Quillen of Niota; her church family and many special friends.
Myers Funeral Home Chapel will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021 for friends to pay their respects. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021 at McMinn Memory Gardens (1727 Co. Rd. 560 Athens, TN) with Rev. Rick Atkins officiating. The family requests memorial donations to be made to WMU C/O New Providence Baptist Church PO Box 1088 Tellico Plains, TN 37385. (Masks are required to attend.)
