Bessie Elizabeth Farner Shaw, age 82, of Coker Creek passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Melanie Dush in Athens, TN.

Bessie was an active member of the ladies auxiliary for veteran’s administration. She was an avid quilter, loved canning and enjoyed farming. She loved her children and grandchildren but most of all she loved the Lord. Bessie will be deeply missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearlie and Rosie Hughes Farner; husband, Johnny Shaw; children, Timmy Shaw, Beth Shaw, Lesa Pacosz Nix, W.R. Shaw, Joni Smrt and Judy Helgerson.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Jessi Shaw, Melanie Dush (Bryan), Frank Shaw (Elizabeth), John Shaw (Betsy), Tressia Watson, Sam Shaw, George Shaw and Susan Subel (Chuck); 26 grandchildren; special friend, Natalie Watkins Morgan and caregiver, Barbara Smith.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Carroll Hamilton officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Myers Funeral Home and proceed to Coker Creek Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. committal service. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Beth and Bessie Shaw to American Cancer Society Memorial Foundation, Hope Lodge Nashville, TN 2008 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203.
