Tellico Plains

Brian Anthony Shanahan, 64, of Tellico Plains, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Francis and Eileen Thresa Guerin Shanahan; and his sister, Susan Jasin.

Brian, a master carpenter who could build anything with his hands and crack a joke with impeccable timing, found true fulfillment in the family he lovingly crafted alongside his devoted wife, Amanda. His passion for astronomy, history, and photography illuminated his curious spirit. With unwavering integrity, Brian fearlessly spoke his mind and lived life on his own terms. Known for his thoughtfulness, he had a knack for making every birthday and holiday memorable. Brian's selflessness extended beyond his own kin, as he readily offered a helping hand to anyone in need. Throughout his life, he forged lifelong friendships across New York, Alabama, Connecticut, and Tennessee. His absence will be felt by all who knew him, but none more so than his beloved family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Amanda Shanahan; his children, Eileen and her husband, Jon Nix, Leah Shanahan, Brian "Tommy" Thomas Shanahan, Zach and his wife Monse Vandever, and Brent Reagan; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Shanahan, Julius White, Madeline, Zion, and Max Atlas Garrett, Trinity and Isaac Nix, Grant William Alling, John Thomas Shanahan, Kyleigh May Reagan, and Analia Marie May Vandever.
