Clarence “J.R.” Davis Jr., age 80, of Madisonville, TN passed away October 31, 2022, with his loving family by his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Beulah Crowder Davis; brothers, Harvey, Harlen, and Jim Davis; sisters, Hazel Davis, Betty Crisp, Ella Mae Cole; daughter, Christine Annette Edington.

J.R. was a member of Liberality Baptist Church, he always told the church he wanted to be remembered as a man that loved God. He retired from Mayfield’s Dairy in Athens, where he worked in maintenance. In his spare time, he loved to fish and enjoyed traveling with Barbara to the Powwows. His family and friends will forever cherish his memory.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara Reed; daughter and son in-law, Claudette and Terry Masengil; son and daughter in-law, Mike and Loretta Reed; grandchildren, Niki Lee, Jennifer Wood, Mikie Reed, Alex Reed, Ebbie Reed, Tori Buckley, J.T and Jake Edington; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friend Martha Crawford.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m., in the chapel with Pastor Niles Dockery officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12:00 noon at the funeral home Friday, November 4, 2022 and proceed to Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for the 1:00 p.m. committal service.
