Dan Edward Johnson, 75, of Tellico Plains, Tennessee passed away, July 30, 2023 at 6:05 am at home surrounded by Friends and family.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Walter Lyle Johnson (Bud) and mother, Freeda Mae Leach.
Dan graduated from Howard Sam’s trade school in Indianapolis and began a career as a machinist. He spent his career working at Marion Engineering, SCM and finished his career at Ball Foster as a maintenance supervisor before leaving to start S&D in his garage. Dan grew S&D into an international company that specialized in the licensing, manufacturing and distribution of specialty products such as College, John Deere, Coca Cola, International Harvester (wind chimes) and other specialty products sold to and distributed by Cracker Barrel, Tractor Supply, Rural King and Yates Home Store along with many more. In 1997 Dan and Teri came to Tellico as tourists and they quickly fell in love with the area and became residents. He was a die-hard Indiana Hoosier sports fan until he fell in love with the UT Vols. He was an avid Nascar fan.
He is survived by loving wife, Teri Johnson; brother, Gregg Johnson; daughter, Jennifer Johnson-Richey; son-in-law, Jim Richey; son, Jeremiah Emmons; daughter-in-law, Tami McAllister; son, Nathen Sherrill; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Sherrill; and grandchildren, Kiersten Richey, Austin Richey, Eliot Emmons, McKinleigh Sherrill, and Zoey Sherrill.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Miller’s Chapel Church with Rev. Micah Collings officiating. Interment will follow at Miller’s Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to be made to Miller’s Chapel Church 114 Seng Garden Rd. Tellico Plains, TN 37385.
