Dora Emma Shadden

Dora Emma Shadden, age 99, of Madisonville passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Floyd and Sallie Boring Shadden; brothers, Homer Shadden, Porter Shadden, and George Shadden; sisters, Maude Gay and Mattie Mae Cagle; nephews, Floyd Cagle, Doug Shadden; niece, Dorene Gay.

Dora was a member of Shady Grove Church. She enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her plants. The family would like to thank the Dominion Senior Living of Athens and Caris Hospice for the care she received during this difficult time and the special neighbors of Short Bark community.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Shadden; nieces and nephews, Maylon and John Kelly, Madeline and Nickey Lynn, Nadine Harris, Joel Shadden, Jeffrey Shadden, Mike Shadden, and Carol and Bobby Betsill; special great-niece and spouse, Trina and Allen Cain; many other great-nieces and great-nephews, and several other great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carroll Hamilton officiating. Committal service will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
