Douglas "Custer" Massingale

Douglas “Custer” Massingale, age 73, of Tellico Plains went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Virgie Massingale; infant sister, Shirley Mae Massingale; infant daughter, Candy Lynn Massingale; brothers, J.B. and Jimmie Massingale; great granddaughter, Adalynn Faith Murphy; great grandson, Clay Massingale.

Douglas was a hardworking man and a very loving husband, father, and grandpa. He enjoyed metal detecting, watching westerns and being outside watching birds but most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Massingale; son, Deon Massingale; daughter, Tanya Massingale; grandchildren, Kainan and Kareus Kinne, Haley Marie, Deon II (Kayla) Massingale, Brianna Ruth Porter; great grandchildren, Asher Adams, Brancin, Easton, and Raylynn Grace Massingale; brothers and sister-in- laws, David and Shelia Massingale, Lonnie and Audrey Massingale, Thomas and Jeanette Massingale;  sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Jim Headings, Patricia and Charles Clayton, and Virginia and Randall Spurling; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday April 28, 2022 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m., in Myers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Payne and Bro. David Massingale officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home Friday, April 29, 2022 and proceed to Massingale Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service with his brother, David Massingale officiating.
