Ginger “Gig” Phillips, age 44, of Tellico Plains, passed away, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, with loved ones by her side. After being diagnosed with metastatic melanoma a few months before.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Carolyn Phillips; brother, Scott Phillips; grandparents, Harold and Roxie Powers Phillips, Edward Gray and Annette Ford Atchley; cousin, Chris Phillips; uncles and aunt; Steve and Charlotte Phillips, Edward Grey Atchley Jr., and Ed White.
Ginger was an employee at Sweetwater Hospital for over 20 years, where she made many friends that were very special to her. She was an avid animal lover especially of dogs. Ginger loved being outside and often spent her free time doing yardwork or working on cars. Her favorite place to vacation was always the beach. Ginger had a heart of gold; she was a caring person and respected others. Her memory will be cherished by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brother, Charlie Phillips and fiancée Connie Dees; sister-in-law, Joyce Phillips; significant other, Cyndi Byrum; aunts and uncle, Ruth White, Jimmy and Tootie Atchley, Bobby and Mary Atchley, and Phyllis Atchley; nephews, Scottie Phillips Jr., Landon Phillips, and Logan Phillips; niece Chastity Hutchison; Gig’s “baby”, Harper Danielle Collins, fur baby, Piper Sue; many others that she considered family; several cousins and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., in the Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Watson and Rev. B.J. Wall officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home Monday, February 26, 2024 and proceed to Unicoi Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
