Glen Randell Miller Sr., 80, passed away December 8, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Born to late parents, Gladith Lovin Miller and Glen Edward Miller in Tellico Plains.
Randell began working full time in logging at 14 and took great pride that he was involved in clearing the land that became the Indian Boundary Recreation Area in the Cherokee National Forest. Eventually he joined Volunteer Electric Cooperative where he stayed for 32 years as an apprentice, Lineman, and Line Forman. After 2 long months of dating, Randell married his life partner, Loretta Jane Morgan Miller, in 1963 and together built a strong family with children, Jennifer Glenice, Lois Marie, and Glen Randell Jr.; niece, Deborah Diane Morgan Schmidt; grandchildren, Riley Abigail Hester and Laken Paul Newman; son-in-law, Paul Newman III; and granddaughter-in-law, Riley Zello Newman.
Randell had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a ‘Randellism’ saying for any situation. He held a deeply seated belief in helping people and often quietly provided food, clothing, and money to family, friends, and strangers alike. He loved to fish and hunt in the mountains he called home.
No formal services will be held. Please honor Randell by paying it forward with donations to his member church Millers Chapel Church, 114 Seng Garden Rd, Tellico Plains TN 37385. Special appreciation is extended to the staff of Jamestown Assisted Living and UT Hospice for providing care, and to his friends and dining partners Steve and Dick for supporting him even on his bad days. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
