James Lester (JL) Edington, age 77, Tellico Plains went home to be with the Lord and his wife Claudetta on January 31 at Madisonville Health and Rehab surrounded by family and friends. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Mayfield Dairy Farms. He was a member of Unicoi Baptist Church but attended Sandy Lane and Druid Hill churches in his later years.
Preceded in death by wife of 52 years Claudetta Davenport, parents John and Mae (Beaver) Edington, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Glen and Ersa Harris, James and Mamie Lynn, Luke and Bertha Harris, Paul and Ruth Cardin, Elbert and Louise Bradley, Jay Rucker.
Survived by, sons and daughter- in- law: Jessie (Wendy) Edington, Ladd, IL, Ralph Edington Tellico Plains, TN, daughters and sons-in-law, Susan (Mike) Atkins and Donna Martin (Travis Gunter) Tellico Plains, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Cindy (Matt) Johnson, Crystal (Josh) Mason, Julia (Brandon) Fowkes, Lizzy (Ryan) Wright, Jenna (Tyler) Gainer, Jacob (Katie) Edington, JT Edington, Addison and Ryker Martin, sister, Jane Rucker, Etowah, TN, several great- grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3 , 2019. The funeral service will follow at 7:00p.m. at Myers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Stewart and Pastor Rick Harris officiating. Family and friends will assemble at Myers Funeral at 10:00 a.m. Monday February 4 th and proceed to Unicoi Baptist Church Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service with military honors. Rev. Eddie McDaniel and Rev. B.J. Wall will officiate at the committal.
