James Edward Moore, age 93, of Tellico Plains went home to be with the Lord on his favorite day of the week, Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his wife IsaMae Moore; parents, Timothy and Ruth Wakefield Moore; grandsons, James Paul Moore and Scott Sylvester; sisters, Anna Bilyeu, Aquilla Wooley and Betty Moore and brothers, George, Ray, Timothy and Glen Moore.
A very faithful church member of Tellico Plains Church of God where he served as the senior class sunday school teacher. He proudly served his county during World War II in the U.S. Army. Several years he pastored a church in MI and became a huge Detroit Tiger fan. Ed enjoyed playing the piano, guitar and singing gospel songs. Every Tuesday night he could be found in Madisonville at the bluegrass picken’.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Dan Robbins of Tellico Plains, Patricia and Daryl Coury of MI; son, James D. Moore of MI; sisters, Sinamae Newman, Pansy Recane; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Wanda Moore; six grandchildren, Sherry Ledford of Tellico Plains, Tracy Sims of Cleveland, Darrell Woolum of IL, and Marissa Moore of MI; five great-grandchildren, Chasity True, Jessica Ledford, Kelsey Herman., Drew Herman and Noah Sylvester; five great great-grandchildren, Reagan, Riley and Levi True, Lawson Wilson and Melody Moore.
The chapel will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13 for family and friends to pay their respects. The funeral service will be held 5:00 p.m. in Myers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Dodd and Rev. Jackie Wakefield officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12:00 noon Thursday, January 14 at Myers Funeral Home and proceed to Hardshell Cemetery for the 1:00 p.m. committal service.
