James "Jamie" M. Hicks

James “Jamie” M. Hicks, age 56, of Tellico Plains, was reunited with his loved ones in heaven on Friday, March 1, 2024 while surrounded by his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Margie Elizabeth Williams Jones, sister, Susan Quinn Brooks, grandchild, Timothy Hamby and nephew, Matthew Barrett, Jr.

Jamie had his first job at nine years old, he worked hard his whole life, always trying to help his family and others. He worked as an electrician for over 15 years and later became a concrete finisher working up until just a few weeks ago when his health took a turn for the worse. Of recent years, he worked for Wes Gay” Bossman”, who treated Jamie with so much kindness. He was a member of the Tellico Plains High School class of 1986. Jamie loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, he was the best Papaw and “Unc” ever. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Heather and Jason Hamby and Joshua Hicks; siblings and spouses, Steve Hicks, Adam and Selena Williams, Angela and Matthew Barrett, and Tom and Pat Quinn; devoted fiancée, Jessica Jenkins; grandchildren, Patrick Mitchell and girlfriend, Courtney Almond, Elijah Hicks, Tanner Hamby, Jacelynn “Little Lady” Hamby, Haley Gibson and Tyler Hamby; great-grandchildren, Leelynd and Emberlynd Gibson and Jaxon and Michelle Hamby; special friend, Thomas Powers; several nieces and nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m., in the Chapel with Rev. Mickey Payne officiating.
