James E Millsaps

July 31, 1937 — May 9, 2020

Rev. James “Jim” E. Millsaps, age 82, took off and entered into the presence of his Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betsy Millsaps; parents, Alfred “Bloomie” and Thelma Millsaps; sister, Christine Voyles; sister-in-law, Tine Hawkins.

Jim loved his Lord. His life’s passion was witnessing to others and seeing people saved. Pastor for 32 years at Big Creek Church, Jim also preached revivals throughout McMinn and Monroe county churches for many years and had the privilege of marrying many couples. He was an avid Tellico Plains Bear, Lady Bears and UT Vol fan and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his golf buddies. A wonderful loving father, grandfather and friends to many….he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Millsaps of Tellico Plains; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Dwayne Martin of Tellico Plains; son, James P. Millsaps of Dandridge; grandchildren, Leah (Josh) Debity, Andy Shadden, Jami and Tommy Babb, Lauren and Sam Hunt; great grandchildren, Graham and Jude Debity, Scout and Finn Hunt; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Shirley Millsaps of Knoxville; brother-in-law and special cousin, Harold Hawkins, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Corky and Paige Corcoran, DJ and Wendy Corcoran, Darrell and Jenny Thorpe; sisters-in-law; Alma Taylor, Joyce Plemons, Doris Glandon, Ina Isbill, Wanda Kirkland, Marty and John Bowman, Sherry Witt and Missy Corcoran; several nieces and nephews and a special thank you to all the NHC Healthcare nurses and staff.

The chapel will be open for viewing at 12:00 noon Tuesday, May 12, 2020. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in Myers Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Carroll Hamilton and Rev. Roman Hamilton officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Myers Funeral Home and proceed to City Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
