John Junior Norwood, age 78, of Reliance, TN was reunited with his loving wife in their heavenly home on Monday, March 23, 2026 while surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gail Martin Norwood, parents, Rev. John and Annie Norwood; brothers, Vandis, Paris, and Woodrow Norwood; sisters, Imogene Cantrell and infant sister Gladys; niece, Arlene Williams Best, and Jennifer Taylor; nephew, Earl Williams; great grandson, Paxton Frerichs.
A devoted Baptist, Junior was a dedicated husband, father, and brother. He worked faithfully for Bain and Holden Tire Company and Phillips Tire and Lube in Englewood, TN where he made many friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time and sharing those passions with family and friends while creating lasting memories.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia (Jeff) Merrell, Beverly Frerichs; son and daughter-in-law, Johnathan (Candi) Norwood; grandchildren and spouses, Drew (Sunny) Frerichs, Robert (Mekia) Frerichs, Jessica (Yancy) Carringer, Arielle Norwood, Lexi Boydston; 6 great-grandchildren, Jaylin, Ryder, Kye, and Isaiah Frerichs, Bella and Lani Acuff; sisters and brother-in-law, Kay Williams, Shirley (Kenneth) Taylor; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; special friend, Helen Knight. The family would like to send a special thank you to Amedisys of Sweetwater for their outstanding care.
Family will receive friends at 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026 in the chapel of Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Vernon Webb and Rev. Yancy Carringer officiating. The committal service will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery with Drew Frerichs, Robert Frerichs, Jeff Merrell, Doyle Taylor, Johnny Fritts, and Ronald Dockery serving as pallbearers. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
