Joseph Paul Medina

Joseph Paul Medina, age 20, of Tellico Plains, left his family and friends on earth and went to be with his Lord and family members in Heaven on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his papaw and mimi, Ed and Ester Brown.

J.P. was a part of the 2019 graduating class from Tellico Plains High School, where he participated in cross country and track all four years. He was a member of River of Life Ministries. J.P. was known for his hugs, smile and always being there for anyone who needed him. He was gracious, calm, talented, very loving and an extremely sharp young man. He was currently a student at Pellissippi State where he was finishing his business degree. To know J.P. was to love him. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his Dad-O and Momma, Albert and Potosha Medina; sister, Brianna Gambill; brothers, Antonio “Tone” Medina, Enrique “Peek” Medina; maternal grandparents, Poke and Mary Gail Byers; paternal grandparents, Paul and Peggy Medina; aunts and uncles, Israel and Mary Ann Byers, Joseph and Heather Byers, Jesse and Carrie Byers, Paul Jr. and Mayia Medina, Paula and Terry Pippin, Forrest and Jessica Medina, and Sharon Byers; step uncles, aunts and cousins, Bubba and Angie McGowen and family, Joe and Amy McGowen and family,  Rodney and LaWanda Millsaps and family; cousins, Jesse Aaron, Eden, Nicolas, Ansley, Rocco and River Byers, Paul Edward and Laney Medina, Matthew and Shuby Pippin, Tate Medina; and many other cousins, extended family members and friends.

Myers Funeral Home Chapel will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 for friends to pay their respects. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mickey Payne officiating and Joseph Byers paying tribute in music and song.  Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29 at Myers Funeral Home and proceed to Brown Hill Cemetery for the 2:00 p.m. committal service.
