Staff Sergeant Judith Kay Brooks Richardson Donato, 76, of Tellico Plains, was reunited with her family in Heaven on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nina Mae and Melton Brooks; sisters, Susan Powers, Patricia Gray, Linda Nell Brooks, and Nancy Caroline Brooks; son-in-law, Daniel Croft; and aunt, Claudette Harmon.
Judy served her country proudly as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. She had many adventures and traveled to many countries, always leaving an impression on others with her bright red hair and strong personality. She retired after 20 years of service and returned to her hometown of Tellico Plains to enjoy a quiet and peaceful life. Judy loved her cats, especially Misty. During her down time, Judy enjoyed doing puzzle books and coloring. Her family particularly her children and grandchildren held the greatest significance in her life. She was their steady foundation, providing them love and support whenever they needed. Her presence will definitely be missed, but her love will continue to live and grow through her family.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Adoracion Croft, Andrew Donato, Angela and Hanssel Castillo, and Amber and Justin Garvich; grandchildren, Eowyn, Caitlinn, Isaiah, Jazzalyn, Ivan, Destinee, Blake, Serenitee Kay; great-grandchildren, Liam, Kai, and Alara; brother-in-law, Steve Powers; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Vernon Webb officiating. Family and friends will proceed to Hamby-Duggan Cemetery for the committal service with military honors. The family request everyone wear purple in Judy’s memory.
