Larry Hamilton, age 80, of Tellico Plains, gained his wings and took his Heavenly flight on Friday, April 7, 2023, at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Helen Hamilton; daughter, Teresa Hamilton Morgan; grandson, Will Morgan.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tellico Plains. Larry had many achievements in his life, especially in aviation. He was a pilot, a certified instructor and a certified aviation mechanic. He contributed over 20 years of hard work to make improvements and upgrades to his business known as Tellico Air Service which now operates under the name Monroe County Airport. Larry ran a heavy equipment business doing construction work for years and was also a truck driver. Larry enjoyed the rodeo life, he competed in the bulldogging event, where he placed and won several times. After retiring Larry bought a farm where he has resided and worked alongside his family the past several years. He truly loved having Kathy, his daughter and grandchildren there to enjoy this peaceful life with him.
He is survived by his love, Katherine Walker; daughter, Lauren Hamilton; son-in-law, Mickey Morgan; grandchildren, Jase, Maelynn, Olivia, Emberlynn, and Mary; special cousin, Gary Hamilton; special friends, Bryan Graves and Kenny Shaw, and Danny West; many other family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2023 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Bill Clark and Rev. Carroll Hamilton officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Myers Funeral Home and will proceed to Gray Memorial Cemetery at New Providence for the 1:00 p.m. committal service. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
