Martha L.
Crawford
April 7, 1941 – May 27, 2026
Athens SDA Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
On May 27, 2026, Martha L. Crawford closed her eyes in sweet rest and peace. The Bible comforts us with Jesus’ words “The dead in Christ will rise.” Oh, what a day that will be! She leaves behind all six of her daughters, eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
On April 7, 1941, Baxter and Sarah Jane Lewis welcomed their only daughter, Martha Allion Lewis. Being the only girl, and the middle child made her emotionally strong and quite independent. Because she was born and raised in Charlotte, NC she attended local schools and was well rounded in her early educational years. She worked diligently at home as well as school.
She met the love of her life Robert Crawford Jr. during her years in high school. They married on December 21, 1957 and worked at staying committed to their vows for 52 years. From their union they were gifted the privilege of raising 6 girls. Marilynn (Kenneth) Alexander, Robin Crawford, Lisa Crawford, Gywana Crawford, Sherril (Steven) Adams, and Princess Crawford.
Martha worked at Pharr Yarns to help support her family and retired from Eckerd Warehouse after 20 years of faithful service to care for her aging mother. Raising her girls in Adventist Schools was important and went hand-in-hand with worshiping each Sabbath with our church family. Martha was a very active member of the Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 40 years. However, following the voice of God, she relocated to Tennessee with her family, and transferred her membership to the Athens Seventh Day Adventist Church in May of 2019. She found so much love and open hearted in her new church family, each one was precious to her.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Athens SDA Church with Pastor David Wendt officiating. Athens SDA is located at 230 New Englewood Rd Athens, TN 37303. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. You may sign the guest registry on our website at www.myersfuneralhometn.com
