Mary Nell Thorne

Mary Baker Thorne, age 81 of Tellico Plains, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Beulah Baker; by all her brothers and sisters; son, Lanny Stinnett Jr.; daughter, Teresa Ann Stinnett Hensley; grandson Steven Hensley; her last husband, Ronald Thorne.

Mary had a strong faith in God and her love for Jesus spread outward to all those she met: it was an unconditional love. Her passion was singing gospel songs and sharing in Bible studies. Mary had a gift of teaching others about Jesus. Most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Kevin) Manning, Janny (Dan) Bett, Missy (Allen) Borden; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; also many many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel with Rev. Bradley McCoy officiating. Family and friends will assemble Sunday, April 25 at Baker’s Cemetery for the 2:00 p.m., committal service.
