Mary Heather Swainson West, of Athens, TN went home to her Lord and Savior, Friday, April 28, 2023.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Lula Swainson; paternal grandparents, CS and Mary Katherine Swainson; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Lloyd; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Charles and Sandy Swainson, and sister-in-law, Margaret Hunt Hicks.
Mary Heather was an active member of North Etowah Baptist Church. She was active in Daughters of America Revolution and Eastern Star. She served on the election commission in McMinn County and the Republican Party. Mary Heather loved to travel extensively and loved visiting her family members in England. She loved studying her family history and genealogy. She was an avid music lover and pianist. More than anything, Mary Heather loved her family, church family and serving her Lord.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 65 years, Dale West; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Patti West, daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Heather and Chad Watson; grandchildren and spouse, Forrest and Candice West, and Griffin West; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends. The family would like to send a special thank you to Sweetwater Hospital and Adoration Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., in the Chapel with Dr. Gerald Atkins officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home Monday, May 1, 2023 and proceed to Epperson Cemetery for the 11:00 committal service.
