Mel A. Haines

Mel A. Haines, age 84, of Tellico Plains, TN, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 5, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Celeste Haines; brother, John Haines.

Mel was a longtime member of the Canon City Co Jaycees and he also was a volunteer Firefighter. He was most of all known for selling the best produce in Tellico, especially his tomatoes. Mel loved Tellico and never met a stranger. He was loved by everyone that knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Imogene Haines; brothers, Eric and Brian Haines; sister, Paula; son, Maverick Haines (Wendy), daughters, Tricia Haines, Sharon Calhoun (Randy), Misty Young (Robert Lomerson); eight grandchildren, Traci, Johnny, Corey, Cameron, Isaac, Landon, Ian and Layla; six great-grandchildren, Talon, Daniel, Lilly, Kimber, Elijah and James; special friends, Jeff and Angela Bennington.

Family and friends will have a time to fellowship and celebrate Mel’s life from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 in the chapel of Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. in Myers Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Carroll Hamilton officiating.
