Melvin Ross Walker, age 73, of Tellico Plains was reunited with his loved ones in heaven on Friday, March 14, 2025.
He was preceded in death by father, J.C. Walker; son, Melvin “Ross” Walker II and brother, Don Walker.
Melvin and Polly, are as native to Tellico Plains as they come. He worked for IUPAT Painters Local Union 437 for 35 years. Making friends came easy for Melvin; he has friends from work, from his days of dune buggies and wagon trains, and most recently his church family and friends at New Providence. Melvin was always looking for ways to help others or to just share a smile and a piece of gum. His sense of humor, and his special ability to aggravate will be so deeply missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 52 loving years, Polly Walker; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Rachel Walker; grandchildren, Neena, Preston, and Ewan Walker; great-grandchildren, Malakhi and Marlee Walker; mother, Ruie Walker; brothers and sister-in-law, Ulysses Walker and Doug and Janie Walker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Chop Swanson and Linda and Robert Shelton; several cousins, nieces and nephews. All his church family and so many close friends, it would be impossible to list each one.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2025 at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Celebration of life service will follow at 7:00 p.m., at the church with Rev. Rick Atkins and Rev. B.J. Wall officiating.
