Melvin "Baldy" Wilcox

Melvin “Baldy” Wilcox, age 79, of Tellico Plains left those he loved the most on Friday, January 10, 2025 and will be waiting for them on that glad reunion day in Heaven.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Carrie Wilcox; brothers, Billy Jean Hedden, Lloyd Wilcox, Roy Wilcox, Frankie Wilcox, Boyd Wilcox, and Dewey; sisters, Barbra Lorranie, Mary Ann Campbell, and Juanita Garrett.

Melvin was a member of Towee Falls Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing. His lottery tickets were a fun hobby, but his grandkids and great-grandkids brought him joy that no winning ticket could match. He will be deeply missed by everyone that had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lara Mae Wilcox; children, Renae and Jimmie Massingale, Tammy Wilcox and Bert Self; grandchildren and spouses, Makala Martin, Jessie and Justin Pike, Tegan and Amber Finley; great-grandchildren, Briar O’Dell, River and Phillip Rymer, Boone O’Dell, Brooke Pike, Summer Pike, Willow Brannon, Wyatt Brannon, Madelyn Finley, Mylah Finley; brother, Eddie Wilcox; sisters and brothers-in-law, Loranza and Ray Frank, and Geneva and Robert Frank.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Towee Falls Cemetery with Jeff Pike and Briar O’Dell officiating. Tegan Finley, Briar O’Dell, Boone O’Dell, Phillip Rymer, Justin Pike, and Tim Rymer will serve as pallbearers. No formal visitation will be held.
