Patricia Ann Thornley, age 77, of Tellico Plains, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 3:31 a.m.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Trisa Gail Thornley; husband, James WilliamThornley; brother, Bristow S. Hopper, Jr.; father, Bristow S. Hopper, Sr.; and grandson, Justin Tyler Freeman;
Ann was born in Ocala, FL and raised an Army “brat” all over the world. She graduated in 1959 from St. Petersburg High School. At age 7, while stationed in Ft. Sill, OK, she gave her life to the Lord. She married the love of her life, James in 1961. The two relocated to East TN in 1981. She spent the last ten years of her life living on her daughter’s property and enjoyed watching classic movies, her pets, playing cards with her best friend, visits from her sister and participating in different family activities. During this time she also spent three years taking care of her elderly mother in FL. She’ll be greatly missed by family and friends for her love to laugh, have fun and her creative abilities.
Ann was a member of Rural Vale Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Roger Freeman of Tellico Plains and step-daughter, Debbie Rogers; mother, Ruth (Dooley) Hopper of Belleview, FL; sister, Alice Hopper of Bloomington, IN; brothers, Lawson Hopper of Helena, AL and Douglas Hopper of Belleview, FL; grandchild, Alix Freeman of Knoxville; great grandchildren, Jasper Hensley of Englewood and Jagger Freeman of Heber City, UT; beloved friend, Joy Turner of Tellico Plains; special caregiver, Jessica Hensley; special nurse, Stephanie Gomez; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
No formal visitation will be held. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 23, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery where she will be buried with her late husband (1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404) with Rev. Carroll Hamilton officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CapStar Bank in memory of Ann’s grandson, Justin Freeman to support drug education and rehabilitation.
