Richard Bivens, age 72, of Tellico Plains, went to his Heavenly home, Friday, March 1, 2024, with loved ones by his side.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Mary Williams Cooper and Pink Bivens; brothers, Enos Bivens, Reed Bivens, Charlie Bivens, Wilburn O’Dell Bivens, Jesse Bivens, and J.D. Bivens; sisters, Imogene Milsaps, Irene Duncan, Betty Odell, Judy Ray, Evelyn Duncan, and Rosalee Bivens, and brother–in-law, Darrell Ledford.
Richard worked at the family sawmill as a logger. He had a great sense of humor and a good attitude no matter what life through his way. He was a beloved son, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gaynell and Gene O’Dell, Flora Lou and James O’Dell, Loretta and Bruce Duckett, Lorene C. Ledford, and Phyllis C. and Steve Selvidge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jonah and Norma Lou Bivens, David and Shirley Bivens, William and Ethel Bivens, and Lawrence E. and Angela Cooper; step-father, Lawrence V. Cooper; brothers-in-law, Terry O’Dell and Timothy Ray and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Chapel with Pastor Tom Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow the service at Little Toqua Cemetery.
