Ruie Belle Walker

Ruie Belle Walker, age 97, of Tellico Plains was reunited with her loved ones in heaven on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C.  Walker; sons, Don A. Walker, and Melvin Ross Walker; parents, Boomer and Annie Waldrup; grandsons, Jared Walker, Ross Walker, and Caleb Walker and great-great granddaughter, Nalan McDaniel.

Ruie was a member of Unicoi Baptist Church and was a devoted woman of God. She was always going the extra mile to guarantee everyone was cared for and well fed especially Saturday morning breakfast. On holidays Ruie would make extra food and deliver to those that were less fortunate. Her love and dedication as a mother and grandmother created a lasting impression on her family and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ulysses Walker, Doug and Janie Walker, and Polly Walker and Pat Walker; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Leslie “Chop” Swanson, and Linda and Robert Shelton; 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., in the chapel with Rev. B.J. Wall officiating. Family and friends will assemble at Myers Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday July 9, 2025 and proceed to Unicoi Church Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
