Obituary

Rusty Keith Duckett, age 63, of Tellico Plains was reunited with his loved ones in Heaven on Saturday, October 10, 2026 after battling cancer for 3 long years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rust Duckett and Nola Duckett Tallent; brother, Dwayne Duckett; great-niece, Elora Haun; grandparents, Ethel and Worth Duckett and Pauline and Woodrow Butler.

Rusty was a member of Miller’s Chapel Baptist Church. Nothing brought him more peace than spending time outdoors. Whether he was tending to his honeybees, checking on his hives, or waiting patiently by the water to catch a fish, he truly knew how to appreciate life's quiet moments. An avid outdoorsman, he also loved hunting and hiking. Rusty never met a stranger and was a loyal friend to many; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Russ Duckett; grandson, Rory Duckett; sister and brother-in-law, Freida and Keith McJunkin; baby sis and husband, Becky and Jesse Powell; nephews, Brandon, Terry, Brian and wife, Amber, and Brett McJunkin, Eli Powell, Zack and wife, Autumn Powell; niece, Katie Watkins Shaw and husband, Adam; great-nieces and great-nephews, Rhylea, Mason, Mahayla, Madison, Colt, Maverick, Corban, Lakenn, Tearsa, Nahshon, Dylan, and Tuhlulah; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Miller’s Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at the church with Rev. Kevin Miller and Rev. Micah Collins officiating. The committal service to follow at Miller’s Chapel Cemetery. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
