OBITUARY FUNERAL
Sonya Holt, age 57, of Tellico Plains, gained her angel wings Sunday, December 21, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arlice Boring; Howard and Madell Bunch, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert (Bob) and Jena Stamey Holt, Sr.; and son, James Holt.
Sonya was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Tellico Plains High School, class of 1986, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Tennessee Weslyn University in 1991. She was the owner and operator of Rural Vale Grocery for many years and worked in several businesses in Monroe County including T.J. Harrill Trucking/D&K Logistics and C&C Services. Sonya proudly served as one of the first firefighters at Conasauga Valley Fire Department. She loved to plan trips and travel with the family especially the grandkids. Sonya always put others first, making sure her family and friends were cared for and loved. Her laughter and sweet spirit will be greatly missed by all that knew her, but most of all by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bobby Holt; son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Whitney Holt; siblings and spouses, Farron and Brenda Bunch, Gerald and Novella Williams, Jerry and Ada Mae Bunch, James “Junior” and Judy Bunch, Fretta Bunch; grandchildren, Tressia, Trevor, and Tanner Standridge; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Reggie Elliot, Pansey Prock, and David Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2025 at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. B.J. Wall officiating. Family and Friends will assemble at 12:00 noon Saturday, December 27, 2025 and proceed to Shady Grove Cemetery for the 1:00 p.m. committal service.
