Teddy G. Kirkland, age 70, of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the University of Tennessee Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold G. Kirkland; and sister, Linda Kirkland.

Teddy’s interests included bowling, dirt track racing, playing cornhole with his 92-year-old mother, golfing, and fishing with his brothers and great-nephews. He will be remembered for his profound love for others, his ability to connect with strangers, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. His legacy includes the countless smiles he brought to his loved ones through his humorous stories. Teddy will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Jean Matthews; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie (Mithell) Buckner, and Tabiatha (Ted) Fletcher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny (Tina) Pilkey, Randy (Tama) Pilkey, Ronnie (Polly) Pilkey, Danny Pilkey and fiancée Michele; several nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved as well as all his family and many special golfing buddies.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and the family will have a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
