Willie Jerry Debety

Willie Jerry Debety, age 76, of Tellico Plains went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by parents, Alvin and Gladith Debety; grandson, Corbin Debety; sister and brother-in-law, Maflesue and Clayton Yarberry; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rossie and Burkey Jenkins; niece, Selena Debety Wiggs; sisters-in-law, Pat Debety, Angie (Jerry) Stewart, Barbara Jenkins, and Minnie Jenkins; brothers-in-law, Pete Jenkins and William Bivens.

Willie was a member of Miller’s Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing on the river, hunting, and a good yard sale. He loved his church and his family. Willie’s greatest blessing was his grandchildren. He worked many years in the Tellico area and all who knew him knew that heartwarming smile when he spoke.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, June Debety; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim & Melissa Debety, Derrick Debety and fiancé Amy McDaniel, daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Blake Hall; grandchildren, Austin and Aubrey Hall, Gavin, Kendyl, and Arryson Debety, grandchildren and spouses; Logan and Taylor Debety, Jacob and Hannah Debety; brothers, Ivan Debety, Cecil Debety, Buddy (Dora) Debety; sister, Jeanette (Harold) Debty; sisters-in-law, Rosie Jenkins, Lisa Jenkins, and Ethel Bivens; brothers-in-law, Richard Jenkins and Leon (Jan) Jenkins; a host of nieces and nephews, family and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Myers Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Mickie Stewart officiating. Family and friends will assemble at Myers Funeral Home at 12:00 noon January 20, 2025 and proceed to Miller’s Chapel Cemetery for the 1:00 p.m. committal service with Rev. Micah Collins officiating. Austin Hall, Jacob Debety, Logan Debety, Gavin Debety, Blake Hall, and Travis Debety will serve as pallbearers. Myers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
