Wyvetta Dalton

January 20, 1938 — August 30, 2021

Wyvetta Dalton, age 84, of Tellico Plains left her earthly body on Monday, August 30, 2021, to finally be with her Jesus, the one she spent her life loving. Until the very end she was worshipping the Lord. Her faith and convictions never wavered. She, a lot like Paul, counted the things of this Earth as garbage. All of her treasure truly was in Heaven.

Wyvetta was preceded in death by her mother and father, Violet and Arthur Johnson; along with all six of her brothers and sisters, Wilford Johnson, Audley Johnson, Willa Belle Keeble, Nota Nell Newman, Audley Johnson, Charlene Williams and Mary Alice Hill and their spouses.

Wyvetta was part of the graduating class of 1956 at Tellico Plains High School and there, she was Vice President of her class, a Captain on the basketball team and also a cheerleader. As an adult, she became well-traveled, surfing in Hawaii, soaking in the culture of Puerto Rico, walking where Jesus did in Israel and providing mission for the people of Jamaica. She was a proud businesswoman owning two salons, The Oasis of Beauty in Triune, TN as well as, Maranatha Hairstyles in Tellico Plains, TN. Wyvetta also provided a place of worship for many at the Light House as she purchased a local bar in Tellico, revamping it into place of street ministry. She was a member of the Tellico Plains Church of God where she served under the leadership of Paul and June Fritts for many years. Wyvetta spent part of her ladder years serving as the house mother at The House that Mercy Built. She was a giver in nature, giving her home to ladies in need of a place to stay, giving of her time which was her greatest gift but also giving away her earthly possessions to people in need. Wyvetta was a devoted friend, a place of comfort for broken hearts, a listening ear to anyone. Without a doubt, she was also strong willed, independent, and unmoved in her faith by this present world. Wyvetta exemplified being in this world, but not of it.

She is survived by her two children, Preston Dalton and Roma Payne along with daughter in law, Brandy Dalton and son in law, Mitchell Payne. She left grandchildren, Bretta Wright, Tyler Dalton, Dylan Dalton, Morgan Morris and Ryan Dalton along with three beautiful great grandchildren, Brayden Wright, Bella Wright and Kaeden Dalton; several great nieces and nephews; two best friends, Barbara and Donna; church buddies, Grace, Delois and Glenda. She has passed the baton, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith.
